Having your senior session done soon? Try these tips from a professional senior portrait photographer!
- Choosing what to wear for a photoshoot can trigger even the most confident, fashionista to pull their entire wardrobe out onto the floor in search of the perfect outfit. Number one thing I want you to remember? Being comfortable is EVERYTHING. Be comfy, please! You should look and feel like yourself, first and foremost. It's not uncommon for people to want to shop for new clothes to wear to a photoshoot. And that is totally fine if that is your jam! The best route is usually to go with something that’s tried and true. Something you know moves with you and hugs you in all the right places. You can glam it up a bit more if that’s what you fancy. But if authenticity is what you’re after, you’re going to have to show up as yourself. And if you want to capture this time of your life in all its glory, then it’s about the feeling of being in your own skin.
- Keep the location, season, and weather in mind! As you’re preparing for your session, be sure to keep the weather and the season in mind. Summer dresses in the middle of winter might not be the best call unless you’re going for a specific creative look. The rule of thumb is to dress for the season and weather in mind. If it’s warm out, grab your favorite spring/summer dresses or outfits. If it’s cold outside, pull out those sweaters and layering pieces.
- Shoes, shoes, and shoes - I know you are focusing on the outfit so much but . . . the shoes will make or break your shots. Wear sandals, wedges, boots, anything but old worn out tennis shoes! And remember there is no shame in sending a quick text/email to your photographer for their opinion!
